Our Story: Healthfirst is a not-for-profit, mission-driven health insurer that provides access to high-quality healthcare to people from all walks of life. In 1993, we were formed by 15 hospitals coming together to create a better health solution for New Yorkers. We speak the many languages of our New York neighbors. Our strong connections with the communities we serve allow us to design our plans around the lives of our members. Our dedication to keeping our members healthy has been part of our history from day one. We work on the same team as our doctors and hospitals and reward our providers for positive health outcomes. Because of this we’re able to consistently deliver on access to high-quality healthcare year after year. As a not-for-profit, we’re not distracted by shareholders and can focus solely on the health of our members. By giving back our profits to the local healthcare systems each year, New Yorkers are the ones who profit most from our business success.
